Why is Shahrukh Khan’s Ticket To Bollywood in legal trouble?

TV Producer Sahil Khan has sent a court notice to SRK’s show

NDTV Prime has recently kicked off a new show called Ticket To Bollywood hosted by Shahrukh Khan, which is all about bringing smiles to the faces of millions of filmy aspirants, but somehow the show has upset a specific TV producer. Producer Sahil Khan, of SK Sahil Khan Entertainment, has issued a legal notice to the makers of SRK’s show and claimed that the title of the show was registered under his name.

Our khabroos inform that Sahil was more upset on the IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers Association) for letting the news channel use the title which was registered on his name. Thus he has sent a legal notice to them as well. Talking to a leading daily he informs, “I had approached the Western India Film Producers’ Association (WIFPA) for the title and I was then directed to Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers Association (IMPPA) for the same. I planned to make a reality show called Ticket to Bollywood and we had even started auditioning for it.” Roshan ‘Vansh’ Pathak, who is the co-producer in his venture said to the leading daily, “We got a receipt for the same from the Western India Film Producers’ Association on March 25, 2014,” he says. Pretty soon they saw a hoarding of NDTV Prime’s show and that was when they called up IMPPA and asked them what the matter was. Rather than accepting their fault, the Film Makers Combine (FMC) advised Khan to rename his own show and move ahead with the issue, something which Khan said he wouldn’t. Khan informs the leading daily, “I told them that we had registered way the title back in September and that they should have informed us earlier. They then replied that the matter would be taken up in a meeting and we would be intimated about it. However, this too didn’t happen. We have now sent a legal notice to both IMPPA as well as NDTV.”

Although the IMPPA people have a different story to tell. TP Agarwal, President of IMPPA, says defending their organisation to the leading daily, “We have not given the title to the producers of the NDTV show. If they fail to change the title, we will take action against them.” Although folks at NDTV think they are being wronged here and they are not ready to stoop down. Anoop Singh, legal consultant for NDTV, informed the leading daily, “It seems to be an afterthought. We registered the show title with the registry of trademarks and we started publicising the show a month before it went on air.”

Now it will be interesting to see as to who will step back and make way for the other. Although wethinks with SRK‘s name involved in the show, this issue is going to be a very high profile battle. What do you think peeps?
